For this week we learned about the professional aspects of voice artistry.
Our resource speaker, Ms. Lynn Gonzales shared an in-depth discussion of the “dos and don’t’s” in the industry.
I learned that a voice artist must have the following: voice-over demo reel (either a character or a commercial reel), resume, contract agreement, rates, among others.
I also learned that a voice-over demo reel is a show reel, which should be a one to two minute voice over designed to sell a voice artists skills to a potential client or employer. A demo reel should show a voice artists best work, style of delivery and versatility.
Ms. Lyn also shared with us the websites which we can use for further studies and continuous improvement. This one I like the most – as I think I definitely need to widen my range.
In the afternoon, the trainers had a live feedback on select works done by my voicemates.
My insights for the fourth week lecture.
Voice artistry is indeed a new adulting life altogether.
A voice artist should have a resume, and in it should be imbedded the activities done related to voice artistry.
The demo reel is also very important. It’s the portfolio where a voice artist will showcase talent and versatility.
So for this week – my takeaways are the following keywords/phrases: versatility and dedication to go on and on and on.
